Venerable Maggiorino Vigolungo Little apostle of social communication

Venerable Maggiorino Vigolungo

Maggiorino Vigolungo was born in Benevello (Piedmont), Italy on May 6, 1904, into a humble and very devout farm family. As a child, he met Fr. James Alberione and became enthusiastic about the "apostolate of the Good Press." He entered the Society of St. Paul al the age of 12 and distinguished himself for his quick intelligence, love of work and goodness of character. When he was 14, he fell seriously ill and accepted the will of God with generosity. On July 27, 1918, he died in Benevello. His last words, spoken to Fr. Alberione, were: "Give my greetings to all the other boys. Tell them to pray for me and that we'll ali meet again in heaven." He was proclaimed "Venerable" on March 28, 1988.

Prayer for the Beatification of Venerable Maggiorino Vigolungo O Father, I thank you for having called the young Maggiorino Vigolungo to spread the Word through the "Good Press". You have infused in him a lively desire for holiness and a great love for the apostolate of social communication as to offer his life for it. I beg you to glorify this apostle in your Church, as a joy and a model of children and young people, so that his examples may influence in a Christian way their choices in these times characterized by global and multimedia communication. Through the intercession of Maggiorino, grant, dear Father, the grace I now ask ... Amen. Glory to the Father...
